The Montreal Metros have emerged victorious in the Bull Cup Championship Series, after winning for the 4th time in team history. The club has taken the Cup three times this decade, beginning with 2011, then again in 2014, before winning the 2018 series.

(Game date: Sep 23, 2018) — The St. Petersburg Admirals have finally made a return appearance in the Bull Cup Championship Series, their first in 16 seasons. They will face off against the Montreal Metros in an exciting final, deciding round to the postseason for 2018.
The Admirals were last in the Bull Cup in 2002, when they were known as the San Diego Seagulls. They have never won the Bull League’s top prize, the team has produced solid players for many years, including Hall of Famer Always “Al” Rosy, a third baseman inducted in 2016, who had back-to-back MVP seasons with San Diego, in 1996 and 1997, and was a Rookie of the Year just two years prior to that. (Game date: Sep. 15, 2018) — The Lake League Championship Series is set to go after a decisive Elimination Round series sweep was executed by the Montreal Metros, dispatching the East Division champion Rimouski Fighting Moose in 3 games, and the dominant Minneapolis Ravens dismantled the Boston Brawlers in 4.
The Ravens unleashed a torrent of home runs in their set with Boston, with at least one in every game, but with three players going long in a game twice during the series. Center fielder Gabel Reyes tallied up 3 in total, scoring 7 runs and driving in 7 more on his way to a first career playoff MVP honor. The Bull League’s two teams from la belle province will face off in what promises to be a vicious battle for the right to advance to the Lake League Championship Series. The Montreal Metros and the Rimouski Fighting Moose faced each other in the LLCS in 2017, with the Metros claiming victory in a 3-2 series win.
But that was then. This year, the Fighting Moose are a much stronger team, having bankrupted their future to secure the big-name talent needed to pursue a postseason victory, under the guiding hand of former GM Bob Weinberg. Montreal Metros’ AA prospect Jorge Hernandez, who is currently playing winter ball with the Lagos Millionaires, went 5-for-5 at the plate in a 9-2 trouncing of the Cairo Pharaohs today. Hernandez, who normally plays for the Cedar Defenders, is batting .636 after today’s game, in which he doubled and had 3 RBIs.
The annual Bull League winter meetings conclude today with the Rule 5 draft. The OSA top-rated player in the pool of potential picks is Chicago’s Jon Guillot, a 22-year-old 3B currently playing at AA-level Anchorage Sky Chiefs. The Cow League season came to a close, with the last wild card spot determined on the last day in dramatic fashion. The last wild card slot was awarded to the Hillsborough Dinos (California) after they defeated the Savannah Salts (Seattle) in a make-up game yesterday.
