Calgary-Dallas Game Rings Up 9 Homers as Inferno Win

The Calgary Home Run Factory went into overdrive tonight in a high-scoring affair against the visiting Dallas Deputies at Inferno Park in front of 37,070 frenzied fans. Israel Medina walked it off in the bottom of the ninth with one out in classic Inferno style, with a home run over the left field wall to win it 11-10.

Israel Medina went yard twice, including a walk-off solo shot, in a high-scoring win over Dallas tonight

It was Medina’s second of the night, with his first a 4-run, no-outs slammer in the 7th off Travis Pope that seemed at the time to put Dallas under the dirt, as Calgary soared to a 10-3 lead. Continue reading “Calgary-Dallas Game Rings Up 9 Homers as Inferno Win”

Deps, Danger in a Swap

The Dallas Deputies today announced they have traded shortstop Kenta Nakayama and minor league center fielder Takashi Matsuda to the Denver Danger, in return for starting RHP Count Montecristo.

The move vastly improves the struggling Deputies’ rotation, as Montecristo will likely slot behind former Calgary Inferno lefty and two-time Bull Cup champion Fernando Latorre, who was signed during the off-season, but ahead of long-time Dallas fixture Rafael Rosario. Nomads Trade Steven Miller to Dallas

The Toronto Nomads have made their second deal of the off-season, adding another trade to what had been a busy week for transactions.

Miller had only broken into the big league last year, after a brief spell at AAA, and after starting the year in AA-level Ktichener. Continue reading “Nomads Trade Steven Miller to Dallas”

Deps Acquire Bob Oliver

The Dallas Deputies are not done with their off-season re-tooling, as was made clear earlier today when they announced a deal to acquire 28-year-old LHP Bob Oliver from the rebuilding California Tidals, in exchange for a pair of minor league prospects.

Oliver was decidedly uninspiring last season with the Tidals, going 6-11, and ballooning a 5.43 ERA. Over 127.2 innings, he allowed 77 earned runs and 43 walks, giving him a 1.53 WHIP for the season. Continue reading “Deps Acquire Bob Oliver”
