Tidals Deal Chinchilla to Montreal for Moles

The California Tidals have come to terms with the Montreal Metros on a trade deal that will see veteran 1B David Chinchilla go to Montreal in return for outfielder John Moles and RF Naoaki Sato.

The move equips Montreal with a veteran power bat for the lineup, as Chinchilla will likely slot in the cleanup spot in the order after the departure of 3B Hoshi Mizuguchi to free agency created a gap to fill. Continue reading “Tidals Deal Chinchilla to Montreal for Moles”

Zaphod Goes to Norfolk in Swap

The Norfolk Sharks and Louisville Sluggers have agreed to a trade that will see SS Zack Zaphod go to the Sharks, and LHP Ryan Hightower join Louisville.

The Sluggers are picking up a young back-of-the-rotation starter in the deal, a 24-year-old with a solid rookie season under his belt already, and the promise of more down the road. Continue reading “Zaphod Goes to Norfolk in Swap”

Tidals Fire Sale Continues, Dan Gore Sent to Moose

California Tidals were involved in another trade, just a day after wrapping up a deal with Dallas that saw them lose starter Bob Oliver.

This time, they have let go of LHP Dan “The Man” Gore, a reliever who has bounced around the league lately, but put in respectable innings and crafted a 1.04 ERA last season in 14 appearances out of the bullpen. Continue reading “Tidals Fire Sale Continues, Dan Gore Sent to Moose”

Deps Acquire Bob Oliver

The Dallas Deputies are not done with their off-season re-tooling, as was made clear earlier today when they announced a deal to acquire 28-year-old LHP Bob Oliver from the rebuilding California Tidals, in exchange for a pair of minor league prospects.

Oliver was decidedly uninspiring last season with the Tidals, going 6-11, and ballooning a 5.43 ERA. Over 127.2 innings, he allowed 77 earned runs and 43 walks, giving him a 1.53 WHIP for the season. Continue reading “Deps Acquire Bob Oliver”

Deputies Execute Two Trades, Lose Caparica and Helms

The Dallas Deputies have pulled the trigger on two trades that analysts say may have set back their progress towards being a playoff contender by at least a few more seasons.

Earlier today, the Deputies traded their top hitting regular, SS Celestino Caparica (.294/.353/.423, 8 HR, 30 RBI, 12 SB) and recently-signed right-hander Marco Helms, who last played for the Salts, where he went 9-5 with a 2.96 ERA and impressive 131 K’s over 118.2 innings. Detroit, Seattle Post First Trade of 2018

The Detroit Motorheads will send 29-year-old right-hander Jason Connery to Seattle in return for minor league prospect catcher Kurt Kopitzke, the teams announced today.

The Seattle Salts are certain to slot Connery into their starting five for 2018, as the Hudson Falls, NY native shows steady signs of improvement after four full seasons at the top pro level. Continue reading “Detroit, Seattle Post First Trade of 2018”
