Dominican Republic’s Granados Takes Tourney MVP Award

Dominican pitcher Efrain Granados, who plays for Utah State’s Preachers normally, won Summer College MVP

With their championship win largely due to his effort, it was no surprise that the Dominican Republic’s ace starter Efrain Granados was named the MVP of the Summer College Tournament today.

Dominican Republic Dominates in College Final

The Summer College Tournament, featuring the best and brightest international college and high school players, has finally come to a close in a grand finish that saw last year’s silver medal winner, Dominican Republic, take the gold in 2018.

Canada Wins First Summer College Tournament

Team Canada won the inaugural Summer College Tournament today, edging a tough Dominican Republic side 6-5 after having dropped a game to them in an earlier phase of the double-elimination playoff.

Catcher Bernard Morgan came through in a big way for the Canadians, going 2-for-5 in the final showdown, scoring once. Morgan hit .367 during the tournament, including 2 doubles in his 11 base hits. The Collège Cardinal Richelieu player can now celebrate his 21st birthday with an adult beverage before coming back home from Los Angeles, where the tournament made its debut, though as a Quebecker he’s more than likely had celebratory beverages many times before.
