2022 Season Awards Predictions

(GAME DATE — Oct. 30, 2022) — The results are not yet finalized, but GM voting for the end of season awards for 2022 is nearly completed, and we have predictions on some of the potential winners.

Most notably is the GM of the Year Award, which is widely predicted to go to Ohio Oxen GM Dylan M. The Oxen showed a massive improvement through 2022, going from last place in 2021 with a 53-109 (.327) win-loss record, to a near .500 finish at 80-83 (.491), forcing a tie-breaking game 163 against the Milwaukee Hops for the 2nd wild card slot, winning it 6-4.

Dylan’s post season was short as the Oxen exited in the Elimination Round after falling 3-0 to the Chicago Pit Bulls, and getting outscored 20-11 in the three games of the best-of-five series. But the team performed fairly well overall against some of the toughest teams in the LL, save for Chicago. The Oxen held winning records against the New York Dragons, Montreal Metros, Toronto Nomads, and every ML team they played against in inter-league play, including 3 game sweeps of the St. Petersburg Admirals, Washington Freedom, and 2021 MLCS champions, Calgary Inferno.

Milwaukee Hops GM, Jason P, will likely be a noted runner up for the GMOTY, as despite suffering the most injuries in terms of IL days, his squad managed to finish with winning records over two division rivals, and force the Oxen-Hops tie-breaker by keeping pace with Ohio at the end of the pennant race.

It is almost a certainty that Chicago’s RF John Rambo will repeat as LL Carl Simms MVP Award winner, and voting could be unanimous. Knuckles Malone, who was traded from Toronto to Minneapolis early in the season, then injured just before the postseason, will likely pick up his 5th consecutive LL Sandy Koufax Award after his 17-6 season, with a 3.59 season ERA to lead the LL.

Tex “Red” Rudman is looking like a solid ML Rookie of the Year after slashing .309/.385/.573 and bashing 28 homers in his BBL debut with the Arizona Cowboys, all while impressing fans and foes alike with his defensive prowess in CF.

End of season awards will be announced shortly.

Rambo Confirmed as MVP, ROTY; 2020 Awards Announced

(GAME DATE – Nov 10, 2020) — In the least surprising news in Bull League history, hotshot rookie sensation John Rambo was announced as the winner of the LL Carl Simms MVP Award and Rookie of the Year Award winner for the 2020 baseball season.

It was nearly a sweep for 1st place votes in both awards, with Chicago’s Rambo earning 7 or 8 first place votes cast, for a total of 36 points for the MVP nod. The outfielder, who was 2 home runs away from the Bull League’s first batting Triple Crown, more than doubled the points collected by teammate Jon Guillot, who garnered 15 points for second place. Rambo a Lock for MVP, Rookie Nods, Rest of Awards Wide Open

(GAME DATE — Oct. 27, 2020) — The indomitable Chicago rookie sensation John Rambo is a virtual guarantee to take home the Lake League’s Carl Simms MVP Award and the Rookie of the Year Awards for the 2020 season, along with the Gold Crown for the RF position.

This has been nearly certain since the all-star break, when the 23-year-old drafted last year out of Arizona State was among LL HR leaders by then, and hit a 2-run shot in his only all-star game at bat. But the rest of the player awards are less certain, and early returns on voting have shown few locks as solid as Rambo. Continue reading “Rambo a Lock for MVP, Rookie Nods, Rest of Awards Wide Open”

Early Look at MVP, Sandy Koufax and Other Awards Candidates

(GAME DATE — May 27, 2020) — As we move towards a third of the way through the 2020 season, we begin to see an early picture forming of who the top players in the LL and ML are, and we can offer predictions about who may be holding that hardware at the end of the year.

Injuries have already taken some pieces off of the chess board, meaning a four-peat for Admirals ace Jose Soto as ML Sandy Koufax Award winner is unlikely, and Montreal’s Jose Ramirez will not likely accumulate the numbers required for a Carl Simms MVP Award this year. Soto, Malone Shortlisted for Koufax Awards?

(GAME DATE – Sep. 16, 2019) — Will St. Pete’s Admirals ace Jose Soto snag his 3rd consecutive Sandy Koufax Award? And will the Lake League reward Knuckles Malone with his second? Both pitchers have been exceeding expectations in 2019, but has it been enough?

We look at the pitchers shortlisted for the Koufax Awards and offer our prediction on these best-pitcher season ending awards. Continue reading “Soto, Malone Shortlisted for Koufax Awards?”

Early Awards Predictions for 2018

Although there is still nearly a month of baseball left in regular season, and then the playoffs after that, we thought we would share our early predictions for the Bull League player awards based on season performances thus far.

As was discovered last year, sometimes a player can be out by early August and still win an award, as was the case for Judson Martel last year. Continue reading “Early Awards Predictions for 2018”
