Early Look at MVP, Sandy Koufax and Other Awards Candidates

(GAME DATE — May 27, 2020) — As we move towards a third of the way through the 2020 season, we begin to see an early picture forming of who the top players in the LL and ML are, and we can offer predictions about who may be holding that hardware at the end of the year.

Injuries have already taken some pieces off of the chess board, meaning a four-peat for Admirals ace Jose Soto as ML Sandy Koufax Award winner is unlikely, and Montreal’s Jose Ramirez will not likely accumulate the numbers required for a Carl Simms MVP Award this year. Race to Rookie of the Year Decided?

(GAME DATE – Sep. 23, 2019) — It is safe to say this year’s Rookie of the Year races for both leagues will focus once again on premier talent at the plate. And, not necessarily even young talent.

California’s powerful Hiroki Omiya is the front runner for the Metro League ROTY after clobbering 45 home runs in his debut season. The 33-year-old rookie was an international free agent signing from Japan last November, and inked a 7-year, $161 million deal with the Tidals on the strength of extremely positive scouting reports. Early Awards Predictions for 2018

Although there is still nearly a month of baseball left in regular season, and then the playoffs after that, we thought we would share our early predictions for the Bull League player awards based on season performances thus far.

Calf League Awards Announced: Peoria Cleans Up

Peoria lefty Philip Lont took home the Pitcher of the Year and Rookie of the Year for the Mid-West Conference in the A-level Calf League this season

The A-level Calf League has announced its 2017 player awards, following the close of its playoffs earlier this week, and the Calf Cup Champion Peoria Mosquitos cleaned up big, particularly LHP Philip Lont, and 3B Jon Guillot.

Lont had an impressive postseason, but with only 4 games at A-level prior to 2017, his regular season stats assured him both a Rookie of the Year and a Pitcher of the Year for the Mid-West Conference. Continue reading “Calf League Awards Announced: Peoria Cleans Up”
