Chicago Looks Forward to Stellar 2021

(GAME DATE — April 26, 2021) — The preseason predictions were out in time for Opening Day, and so far, just after 3 weeks of play, the predictions are shaping up accurately for the high-flying defensing champion Chicago Pit Bulls.

Chicago won the Bull Cup as a 2nd wild card entry in the 2020 postseason, finishing 85-77 (.525) in their LL West division, before taking down Boston and Toronto on their way to the finals, where they took Nevada to game 6 and won the series 4-2. ML Announces June’s Best Starter

(GAME DATE — July 1, 2020) — Robby McWeeney took a much-deserved turn in the spotlight earlier today as he accepted the Metropolitan League Pitcher of the Month award for June.

The 26-year-old Cowboys starter is a relative newcomer to the league, but nonetheless racked up an impressive 4-2 won-lost record in 6 starts. This month he fanned 43 batters in 45.2 innings and compiled a 1.77 ERA. Continue reading “ML Announces June’s Best Starter”

McWeeney No-Hits Seattle

RHP Robby McWeeney pitched the first no-hitter in Arizona Cowboys history, and the first since June, 2017.

(Game date: 15 Apr. 2019) — Robby McWeeney was feeling calm about his no-hitter — until the last three outs.

“You really become conscious of every pitch at that point,” the Arizona pitcher said. “The adrenaline level kicks up even higher. Everybody in the ballpark knows a no-hitter is on the line. The crowd is on its feet. One mistake and it’s all over.”

May Awards Announced; Hot Nomads Pick Up Two

The Lake League’s Toronto Nomads remain hot at the close of the opening month of baseball as they pick up two player of the month awards for May 2018.

Jorge “Chachi” Chavarria was named Lake League Rookie of the Month after the 26-year-old third baseman showed he’s got some skill at the plate, going .323 with a pair of homers and 13 RBIs through the month. Chachi came to the Nomads in a trade with Arizona last season, and was sent to AAA Brampton, where he provided solid numbers on the way to a Longhorns Cow League championship.
