Teams Heat up Battle Over Jalapeno

Free agent center fielder Ricky Jalapeno appears poised to remain in the American Eagle League when he finally signs to a contract for 2018. It is rumored that the former Anchorage star has no less than four teams bidding for him, among them: Arizona, Calgary, Seattle and Nevada, all in the AEL.

Eligible Players File for Free Agency

The next crop of free agents have filed following the conclusion of the contract arbitration phase of the 2017-2018 baseball off-season, and several big names are now on the market.

Dao-zi Ling, at 34, is one of the top players available in this year’s crop of free agents

Among the elite players looking for new deals with new teams are three-time MVP and seven-time all-star Dao-Zi Ling, who is coming off a second championship season with the Calgary Inferno, Oxen ace right-hander A.C. Players File Notices for Free Agency, Arbitration

It’s that time of the year again, as the Bull League players notify their teams of their intentions to file for free agency, and pass along their arbitration demands.

Injury Sidelines Ricky Jalapeno for Season

Ricky Jalapeno will miss the 2017 after suffering from post concussion syndrome in spring training

The Anchorage Aces (formerly the San Diego Seagulls) were dealt a severe blow when Ricky Jalapeno was hurt colliding with a player at a base last night in a game against the Norfolk Sharks. After the game, the team trainer reported Jalapeno might have to spend a lengthy time on the disabled list.

Today doctors confirmed it, ruling the 27-year-old center fielder out for the rest of the season with a concussion. They indicated it would take Jalapeno at least 5-6 months to heal. Continue reading “Injury Sidelines Ricky Jalapeno for Season”

Pitchers who faced the San Diego Seagulls last week were happy to see Ricky Jalapeno in the rear view mirror. The 27-year-old center fielder was dubbed the American Eagle League Player of the Week for a 7-game tear that saw him hit at a .519 clip.

For the week he also chalked up 14 hits in 27 at-bats, 3 home runs, 11 RBIs and 10 runs scored.

Jalapeno is presently hitting at a .316 pace with 12 home runs, 60 RBIs and has scored 54 times.
