Elite Eight Set for NCAA Division I Playoffs

The season has come to a close, and the NCAA Division I playoff teams have now been set. After some tough battles, some great players and teams will miss post-season play, but all can hold their head up high after participating in what has been an exciting college season.

Of the four NCAA conferences, and 32-teams, just eight will continue on into the post-season, including all of the conference leaders, and two wildcards from each conference group, the “A10” (Atlantic Coast and Big-10) and “SE12” (Southeast and PAC-12). Inferno Tie Metros, Ramirez Out

The Calgary Inferno have tied the Bull Cup series against the Montreal Metros 1-1, and what could be a bad turn of events for the Metros, 2017 LL batting champion Jose Ramirez bruised his hand and will not play for a week.

Bricknell Shuts Down Moose to Take LLCS

Montreal Metros’ pitcher Lou Bricknell threw a complete game shutout, and saw plenty of support through the batting order, on his way to a win over the Rimouski Fighting Moose that ended the Lake League Championships and saw the Metros advance to the Bull Cup.

Inferno Sweep Aside Ravens

The AEL Championship Series wrapped up in short order, with the Calgary Inferno sweeping the Jacksonville Ravens, 3-0.

3B Israel Medina won series MVP

Calgary Advances, Anchorage Falls

The Calgary Inferno have put down the Anchorage Aces in a surprising upset, after taking their AEL Elimination Round series 3-1.

The Aces, who despite their better season record of 61-39 were the wild card team in this series, and therefore did not start the series at home, looked positively lethal in Game 1, winning 10-4 and swatting three home runs from all the usual suspects: AEL season HR leader Takeo Otomo, Alex Viramontes and rookie Chris Pratt. Fighting Moose Deliver Oxen an Upset in LL Series

The Rimouski Fighting Moose have upset the best team in the LL during the regular season, Ohio Oxen, shocking the Lake League playoffs in the Elimination Round.
