Zaphod Goes to Norfolk in Swap

The Norfolk Sharks and Louisville Sluggers have agreed to a trade that will see SS Zack Zaphod go to the Sharks, and LHP Ryan Hightower join Louisville.

Expansion Norfolk’s Budget Flies High

The Norfolk Sharks budget for 2018 is at $120 million, putting themselves not only their fellow 2012 expansion teams, but four other Bull League teams: Detroit, Denver, Kingston and Toronto.

Though the budget was cut by $2 million from last year, it marks the first time that four older teams had their budgets outmatched by an expansion team. Hernandez Has 5-Hit Day

Montreal Metros’ AA prospect Jorge Hernandez, who is currently playing winter ball with the Lagos Millionaires, went 5-for-5 at the plate in a 9-2 trouncing of the Cairo Pharaohs today.

2018’s Sophomores to Watch

In 2017, we saw the emergence of several rookies in the Bull League, including ROTY winners Jose Soto (Anchorage) and Corny Maise (Ohio). Many had breakout first-year performances, leaving a lot to look forward to for the coming season.

St. Andrew’s Day Series Games a Success

This year the St. Andrew’s Day Series saw all 20 teams in action, and some surprising results.

The 2nd annual St. Andrew’s Day Series took place yesterday, and was a resounding success by all accounts. For the first year, the exhibition games involved all 20 teams in the Bull League, and fans, scouts and GMs were treated to some great performances by the players.

At most of the games, a pre-game ceremony involving the famous Robert Burns “Address to a Haggis” took place, as bagpipes played and a Scotch whiskey toast was drunk by the invited guests. Continue reading “St. Andrew’s Day Series Games a Success”
