The 2018 June amateur draft pool has been released, 45 days before draft day, showcasing the top talent expected to enter the Bull League over the next few seasons.

NOR-AM High School Preview 2018

While Niagara Academy Fighters dominated the standings in last year’s Nor-Am High School season, and earned promotion from the Independent Schools (Indy) Conference, Division 2 to Division 1, is was the International Conference’s (Inter) mighty Mexican team, Guadalupe HS Slashers that ultimately won the first high school baseball championships.

Summer College Tournament Launched

The Bull League has launched a Summer College Tournament, an international event that will bring together the very best college and high school players from eight countries around the world. The inaugural tournament will run in August, and include teams from Australia, Canada, Dominican Republic, Japan, Mexico, Puerto Rico and the United States.

The tournament will become a regular feature of the Bull League schedule, and in future years will run shortly after the Bull League amateur player draft in June. Continue reading “Summer College Tournament Launched”

High School Top Players and Pitchers Named

The Most Valuable Players and Pitchers of the Year have been announced following the end of the Nor-Am High School playoffs, which saw the International Conference’s Guadalupe HS Slashers win the best-of-three series over the Independent Conference’s Dallas Sports Academy Bats, 2-1.

Guadalupe High’s Jean-François Rougier took the INTER Pitcher of the Year Award, which surprised no one except for perhaps Rougier. He had an impressive 7-1 record and 2.26 ERA, topping that conference, a number that is made all the more impressive by the fact that the conference average ERA was 6.48. High School Confidential: Who Are the Top 18 Year Olds?

With the Nor-Am High School regular season wrapped up and the postseason underway, it’s a good time to look at the top draft-eligible batters and pitchers before the Draft Pool is announced on May 1.

High school players are often overvalued in a draft, because they have often put up great stats but are still young and inexperienced, and haven’t proven themselves over the longer pro baseball seasons. The high school season is only 42 games long — just long enough to start showing what they’re capable of, but not enough to really nail down their stamina and drive.

Wingnuts Chill Brackett’s Hot Streak

The 24-game hitting streak of Nor-Am High School league’s Chris Brackett has come to an end, setting a tough standard to surpass for future high school hitters. The Anguilla Prep School first baseman went 0-for-4 today in the 3-2 loss to the Mexico City HS Wingnuts at Wingnuts Ballpark.
