Weinberg Stepping Down Temporarily

Rimouski Fighting Moose GM and manager Bob Weinberg has stepped down from his role effective today, allowing former GM and current Assistant GM Dylan Hall to take the reins.

Lineup Mixups Mar First Ohio-Rimouski Game

Teams are blaming faulty fax machines, or misdirected emails, but whatever the cause, both Rimouski and Ohio failed to field their expected starting pitchers for Game 1 of their LL Elimination Round series, it has come to light.

The Ohio Oxen were widely expected to start Sandy Koufax Award contender Frasor Clause or A.C. Deucey for the first game of the series. Rimouski In, New York Out

A postponed game between the visiting New York Dragons and the home team Rimouski Fighting Moose has decided the final Lake League wild card spot, and the Dragons will not be going to the postseason.

The final regular season game went ahead after the official end of the regular season schedule, with the Dragon’s William Febres facing off against Nick Seer for the Moose, resulting in a tight 2-1 extra-innings rain-delayed win for Rimouski, who finished the season 54-46 (.540) while the Dragons fell to 53-47 (.530). Lake League July Player Awards Announced

The Lake League has announced their July player awards, and the Rimouski Fighting Moose have come out strong, with Nick Seer (pictured) taking both the Rookie of the Month and Pitcher of the Month nods, and veteran shortstop Joe Street completing the team’s sweep of the month’s awards by getting the Batter of the Month Award.

The 36-year-old Street had a stellar month, going .304 with 5 of his season’s 8 homers coming in July. Street, who was an MVP back in 2007, is in the final year of his contract with Rimouski, has a career .254 average and is closing in on 250 career home runs — he’s just 3 short as of today.

Deputy Throws 1-Hitter in Season Opener

Dallas Deputies starter Bob Finney threw a 1-hit complete game shutout today in the team’s season opener against Arizona, as the Deputies kick off 2017 with a 2-0 win.

Finney was helped by a 2-out two-RBI double in the sixth inning by 3B Flavien Scarlatti. Bases were loaded when Arizona’s Nick Seer, recently ranked by the OSA as the #4 prospect in the league, served up a fastball which the switch-hitting Scarlatti drove into deep center, scoring Koichi Masuda and Chris Zahn.
