Trade Winds Blow at Deadline

After a flurry of trades in the beginning of July, the remainder of the month was looking quiet.  But as injuries stacked up and wild card races heated up, several trades were triggered in the last week of July just before the deadline.

The action started on July 26, when the Toronto Nomads confirmed a deal with the Detroit Motorheads that sent promising prospect infielder Ronnie van der Wal – the “Flying Dutchman” – right-handed reliever Glen Talbert, and 21-year-old prospect Matt Hagopian to the Motorheads in return for slugger Brian Chambliss and infielding prospect Jose Rodriguez. Speeders Still Dominating in Second Half

At the end of 11 weeks of baseball, the Nevada Speeders find themselves still on the top of the Weekly Team Power Rankings as they continue to dominate through the second half of the season. The Speeders have gone 7-2 since the All-Star break, and are 43-22 on the year.

Rimouski, Minneapolis and St. Petersburg are close behind, all with 39 wins. The Denver Danger have made serious gains, however, and are looking to challenge St. Pete’s for the division crown. Continue reading “Speeders Still Dominating in Second Half”

Week #10: Nevada Still In Control

The Nevada Speeders are still in command of the weekly team power rankings after ten weeks of baseball, holding a record of 37-20 as they added two wins since last week, which was interrupted by the five-day All-Star break.

The Speeders capped off their home-and-home sweep of the Chicago Pit Bulls with a 10-2 win on the 16th, just before breaking for the midsummer classic. They opened their four-game set yesterday against California with a 6-1 win. Continue reading “Week #10: Nevada Still In Control”

Nevada Speed to the Top of Power Rankings

The Nevada Speeders have pulled ahead of the pack to take the top of the weekly team power rankings for Week 9, after taking the first three against their former AEL rivals, the Chicago Pit Bulls, in the interleague home-and-home series that marked the main event for all teams this past week.

Chicago-Nevada Series Sure to Rehash Old Rivalry

The Chicago Pit Bulls moved out of the American Eagle League starting with the 2012 season, and former AEL East rivals, Nevada Speeders, were moved to the AEL West at the same time, and have not yet made a playoff since then.
