Bucs Take Heifer Cup in 4

The Savannah Buccaneers (Anchorage) won the AA-level Heifer Cup championship for 2017

The AA-level Heifer League final playoff round was decided in the fourth game last night, as the Savannah Buccaneers smashed the Nashville Misfits 11-5.

The win marks the first Heifer Cup victory for the Anchorage Aces affiliate, capping one of their best seasons since the Heifer League started in 2013, with a team record .264 team average and a new attendance record of 443,273. Continue reading “Bucs Take Heifer Cup in 4”

Nashville Misfits to face Bucs in Heifer Cup

The Nashville Misfits shutout the Anchorage Sky Chiefs 2-0 in Game 4 of the best-of-five Pasture League Championship Series tonight, and will now advance to face the Savannah Buccaneers in the Heifer Cup.

The AA-level affiliate for the Battle Creek Attack, the Misfits are going to their first Heifer Cup, after making the playoffs two previous times but failing to advance past the first round. In 2013, the Heifer League’s debut year, the Misfits were beat by Seba Beach in five games, and last season Chilliwack took them the full five before going on to win the Heifer Cup over Quebec City. Savannah Buccaneers Advance to Heifer Cup

Buc’s outfielder Reed Salsman was named player of the game in an exciting series sweep finish over Spokane that sees the Anchorage Aces’ AA-level affiliate team move to the Heifer Cup finals.

Salsman came through big for the Savannah side yesterday, going 2-for-5 with a pair of home runs, including what would turn out to be the game winner in the 7th inning.
