Battle Creek’s Weisensel Named Top Tourney Player

Everett Weisensel surprised everyone with his performance during the recent World Cup of Baseball tournament – everyone except his Battle Creek and Team Germany teammates.

The World Cup of Baseball ran through October, following the end of the Bull League playoffs

The veteran reliever had an incredible season this year as the closer for the Attack, and was partially responsible for their 3rd place tie finish with the Chicago Pit Bulls, their best in club history since joining as an expansion team in 2012. Calf League Awards Announced: Peoria Cleans Up

Peoria lefty Philip Lont took home the Pitcher of the Year and Rookie of the Year for the Mid-West Conference in the A-level Calf League this season

The A-level Calf League has announced its 2017 player awards, following the close of its playoffs earlier this week, and the Calf Cup Champion Peoria Mosquitos cleaned up big, particularly LHP Philip Lont, and 3B Jon Guillot.

Lont had an impressive postseason, but with only 4 games at A-level prior to 2017, his regular season stats assured him both a Rookie of the Year and a Pitcher of the Year for the Mid-West Conference. Continue reading “Calf League Awards Announced: Peoria Cleans Up”

High School Top Players and Pitchers Named

The Most Valuable Players and Pitchers of the Year have been announced following the end of the Nor-Am High School playoffs, which saw the International Conference’s Guadalupe HS Slashers win the best-of-three series over the Independent Conference’s Dallas Sports Academy Bats, 2-1.

Guadalupe High’s Jean-François Rougier took the INTER Pitcher of the Year Award, which surprised no one except for perhaps Rougier. He had an impressive 7-1 record and 2.26 ERA, topping that conference, a number that is made all the more impressive by the fact that the conference average ERA was 6.48.
