The Brownsville College Border Runners were treated to a lopsided 17-2 win to open their first ever Can-Am College baseball season against the Danbury Central College Dimes today, and a Japanese senior named Manabu Shiba played a big role.
Shiba was 3-for-3, and added 3 walks, getting on base every time he was at the plate in the game. He hit home runs in two of his at-bats, scored 4 runs, and had 4 RBIs. The hard hitting short-stop batted third in the order, ahead of Bob Stuckless, who was also impressive, going 3-for-5 with a home run of his own.
