NCAA Week #3 – UCLA Remains in Charge

The UCLA Bruins (17-4), led by Hall of Famer progeny Carl Simms Jr., remain on top of the NCAA power rankings for the second consecutive week, following a 6-1 run where their only loss came in a walk-off 11-10 game against the Arkansas Razorbacks (7-14).

UCLA’s Carl Simms Jr. had a 6-home run week, and now has 14 on the season.

The son of Hall of Fame and Bull League career HR record holder Carl Simms was a spitting image of his father this week, ending with a three-game home run streak, where he homered in both games against Ole Miss and then again yesterday against Arizona State, totalling 5 long balls in just 3 games. NCAA Opener Full of Lopsided Losses

Opening Day for the NCAA took place yesterday, and all 32 teams were in action, with some incredibly lopsided losses as hot bats ruled the day.

There was, of course, the 28-run, 4 hour 41 minute marathon between Arkansas and Auburn, which saw an already high-scoring 9-9 tie break out into an 18-10 win for the Tigers on the back of Jayden Nelson’s 3-for-3, 2 HR, 4 RBI effort. Continue reading “NCAA Opener Full of Lopsided Losses”
