Admirals Sign Soto to $215M Extension Deal

Jose ‘Flinch’ Soto will be staying with the St. Pete’s Admirals for the foreseeable future after it was announced the sophomore right-hander has signed to a 10-year contract extension worth nearly $215.8 million.

Soto was an easy choice for the AEL’s Sandy Koufax Award in his rookie season last year, along with the Rookie of the Year trophy, after going undefeated in 21 starts, and earning 15 wins along the way, tying for the league lead. AEL Postseason Set to Go

The American Eagle League postseason is set to kick off tomorrow, just one day after the Lake League’s playoffs get underway.

The Seattle Salts (63-37), who swept into 1st in the AEL West with a 21-7 run through August, take the top seed and will play the wild card Jacksonville Ravens (57-43), who finished in 2nd in the AEL East.  Continue reading “AEL Postseason Set to Go”

Malone, Glanz Injured

Toronto Nomads ace Knuckles Malone, and Anchorage Aces outfielder William Glanz were injured today and will miss the remainder of the regular season.

For Malone, elbow tendinitis was the cause, and and the injury is not expected to have lasting effects, but he will miss an opportunity to get an 11th win, and set a club record. Continue reading “Malone, Glanz Injured”

AEL July Awards Announced

Anchorage Aces rookie ace starter Jose Soto once again snagged a Rookie of the Month Award, along with the Pitcher of the Month honors. This time, Soto took both awards in the same month.

Soto, Malone Toss Shutouts

Anchorage Aces rookie star Jose Soto threw a gem of a game today, a near-perfect one-hitter against the Battle Creek Attack, winning 9-0 in inter-league action tonight. Soto chalked up 14 strikeouts on the effort, and is quickly solidifying a reputation as one of the most feared pitchers in the AEL.

Nomads starter Malone improved to 8-2 after a shutout tonight
