Soto, Chaim To Miss Rest of Season

The Nevada Speeders learned that fourth starter Shi-min Chaim will miss the rest of the 2018 season, after coming out of a game against the Miami Storm with a sore arm last night. He is expected to miss five months as he recovered from bone chips in his throwing elbow.

Chaim made a transition from the bullpen this year, and had crafted a 6-2 record with 14 saves, and a 1.40 ERA as the team’s erstwhile closer, until Nate Kremer returned from a year-long injury earlier this month. Continue reading “Soto, Chaim To Miss Rest of Season”

First Half Top Dogs

With the All-Star Break done and out of the way, and the second half of the season already started, now is a great time to have a glance at the top performing players who took us to the mid-point of the 2018 Bull League season.

Reyes, Yamada Named Batters of the Month; June Awards Announced

The Bull League’s players of the month for June have been announced, and the top hitters were revealed as Gabel Reyes for the LL and Chitoji Yamada for the AEL.

CF Gabel Reyes was named Batter of the Month for June

Reyes, the Minneapolis Ravens center fielder, went .314 in June with an OPS of 1.043, contributing 11 home runs to make 13 for the season. Reyes has been a fixture in the cleanup role for about half his appearances, and has been particularly effective from there, batting .359 from the #4 slot. Admirals Sign Soto to $215M Extension Deal

Jose ‘Flinch’ Soto will be staying with the St. Pete’s Admirals for the foreseeable future after it was announced the sophomore right-hander has signed to a 10-year contract extension worth nearly $215.8 million.

Soto was an easy choice for the AEL’s Sandy Koufax Award in his rookie season last year, along with the Rookie of the Year trophy, after going undefeated in 21 starts, and earning 15 wins along the way, tying for the league lead.
