Detroit’s Modica Out for Season

In what can only be described as a terrible blow for the Detroit Motorheads playoff chances this season, Jesus ‘Pincho’ Modica will miss the rest of 2018 and much of the following season, after tearing his ulnar collateral ligament in his throwing arm during a spring training game against Boston today.

Jesus Modica had the Toronto Ducks dancing to his tune today with a sparkling 4-0 shutout performance for the Kingston Cannons. He gave up 3 hits, issued 2 walks and had 6 strikeouts.

Toronto hitters were bewildered throughout the game by his delivery.

“When you face a guy who hides the ball like he does, it takes a couple of at-bats to try to find his release point,” opposing manager Ray Morrell said. “We just never figured him out.”

In 11 starts this season Modica has crafted a 5-4 record with a 3.86 ERA. In 10 years in the Bull League, he has tallied a 43-32 record, and amassed 514 K’s, and just 160 BB’s in 765 innings. The $4.8 million starter will become a free agent at the end of this season.
