Washington Center Fielder Hurt

A blow for Lowell Woodford today — team doctors confirmed he will miss 6 months with a torn flexor tendon in his elbow. Woodford suffered the injury throwing the ball. Although officials from the Washington Freedom are confident he’ll make a full recovery, doubts will persist about Woodford’s ability to return fully fit with an injury of this nature.

Currently Woodford is batting .222 with 1 home run and 4 RBIs.

Dragons Rich Suffers Injury

April 6, 2024

New York starting pitcher Ryan Rich has a sprained ankle, suffered while throwing a pitch. He’s expected to be out for 5-6 weeks. Rich was making his second start of the season, and had already pitched 4.0 innings against the Minneapolis Ravens. He had allowed 4 earned runs and faced 19 batters before doing down to injury. The Dragons eventually hung on to win 11-6.

Acquired in an October, 2023, from the Calgary Inferno, the 23-year-old starter from Bloomington, Ill., was named the #10 prospect in 2022 and struck out 198 in 222 innings last season, while going 15-13.

Oxen Willie Morales Down and Out for Year

Ohio starting pitcher Willie Morales suffered a season-ending injury throwing a pitch in today’s game against the Brawlers. According to club doctors Morales has a torn ulnar collateral ligament. Although Morales has declined to comment, sources close to the player have stated that he is “devastated” that he will miss the season.

The 32-year-old right hander is no stranger to injuries, having suffered from back tightness earlier during spring training, but has not missed playing time due to an injury since 2017.

 

Tidals Rangel Suffers Injury

A blow for Ivan Rangel today — team doctors confirmed he will miss 3 months with a torn triceps. Rangel suffered the injury throwing a pitch. Although officials from the California Tidals are confident he’ll make a full recovery, doubts will persist about Rangel’s ability to return fully fit with an injury of this nature.

The 23-year-old closer had only just made his first appearance of the season tonight, earning the save. The right hander had 16 saves last year in his rookie season with the Tidals, but has suffered a string of minor injuries since joining the Miami Storm organization as an international amateur free agent out of Cuba in 2017.

Chicago C Les Groves Injured

April 1, 2024

Injuries are something every team has to deal with. That fact struck home for the Pit Bulls when after today’s game against the Nomads, the club found out they would be without the services of Les Groves for at least 3 weeks.

After the game, his manager said of the incident, “You hate to lose anyone to injury. That’s always a negative.”

Groves was injured earlier today being hit by a pitch and suffered a bruised wrist.

Greg Pritchard Lost for Season

(GAME DATE — July 15, 2020) — Greg Pritchard has to call it a season. The Nevada Speeders starting pitcher sustained a season-ending injury against the Ohio Oxen and will not play again this year according to club doctors. Pritchard was injured while throwing a pitch. His doctors diagnosed it as a damaged elbow ligament and stated that he would not be able to play for 13 months.

This season in 8 starts Greg Pritchard has a record of 3-3 with 33 strikeouts in 53.1 innings and a 4.05 ERA. He had been in the back end of the Nevada Speeders rotation, which has been hammered hard by injuries this year. Jake Figurski was injured back in early May, and will also miss the season. Young groundballer Alex Fonseca was placed on the DL at the end of April with shoulder inflammation, and will not be available until September.
