The son of Hall of Fame and Bull League career HR record holder Carl Simms was a spitting image of his father this week, ending with a three-game home run streak, where he homered in both games against Ole Miss and then again yesterday against Arizona State, totalling 5 long balls in just 3 games. He earlier tagged another last Tuesday, making 6 for the week. He now has a season total of 14 home runs. Continue reading “NCAA Week #3 – UCLA Remains in Charge”

NCAA Week #1 – ASU Takes Lead in Power Rankings

Arizona State launched themselves to the top of the Week #1 NCAA power rankings, after the first full week of baseball wrapped up yesterday. The Sun Devils topped Indiana Hoosiers in the rankings, 168.5 points to 144.0.

ASU had a near-perfect start to the year, going 7-1 so far, and undefeated at home after four games. It’s too early to tell if this will remain the case, obviously, but the Sun Devils are pleased to take an early lead, though in terms of run scoring, NC State Wolfpack have the advantage so far with a +36 differential after opening the year 6-2, and also going a perfect 4-0 so far at home.
