Baker’s Streak Over; Record Set at 34 Games

David Baker’s hitting streak has finally come to an end. The Minneapolis Ravens third baseman failed to get a hit tonight at Twin Cities Stadium, ending a streak of consecutive games with a base hit that began on June 30 in Chicago.

Baker’s Hit Streak Sets Record

The Minneapolis Ravens third baseman who has been on a hot-hitting streak this year has finally done it. David Baker has set the new Bull League record for hit-streaks, at 32 games – and it’s still going!

The 28-year-old switch-hitter could not help but break out a wide grin when he singled to leadoff the first inning against the Boston Brawlers tonight.

Baker’s Streak Now Stands at 30

David Baker, the hot-hitting third baseman for the Minneapolis Ravens, has accomplished a lot to help his team maintain its chokehold on the Lake League this year. But few of those accomplishments compare to his lengthy hit streak, which he has now extended to 30 games after an RBI single in the 7th inning tonight against the Louisville Sluggers.

On the season, Baker is batting .343 to lead the team. He has also contributed a dozen home runs and 38 RBIs, all from the leadoff position in the batting order, where he has been all year. Continue reading “Baker’s Streak Now Stands at 30”

Spartans’ Farquhar Extends Hit Streak to 20

Michigan State’s Dan Farquhar has extended his hit streak to 20 games

Michigan State first baseman Dan Farquhar has had a solid season this year. The senior, who will be draft eligible in June, hit safely in his 20th consecutive game today, going 3-for-4 in a loss against conference leaders Indiana Hoosiers.

So far this year, Farquhar, who hails originally from George West, Texas, and turned down a scholarship with Texas A&M to play hockey originally for the Spartans, is batting .346 in 51 games, with 17 homers, 58 RBIs and 61 runs scored. Continue reading “Spartans’ Farquhar Extends Hit Streak to 20”

Hit Streaks End for The Rajah and Golden Boy Sanchez

Two long-running hit streaks came to an end without much fanfare this week. Danny “Golden Boy” Sanchez, of the Norfolk Sharks, saw his hit streak end at 21 games on Independence Day, after he failed to get a hit in a 7-4 win over the Nevada Speeders. Calgary Inferno’s Danny “The Rajah” Huertero closed off his streak at 24 games tonight after failing to hit safely against Norfolk in a 3-1 win to open a series.

Sanchez’s hitting streak ended after 21 games, setting a new personal record for the Mexican shortstop

Huertero, Sanchez Extend Streaks to 20 Games

Two well-known Danny’s, ‘The Rajah’ and ‘Golden Boy’, have extended their hitting streaks to 20 or more games and are still going strong.

The American Eagle League hitters have been decimating opposing pitchers all month, with Calgary’s right-fielder, Danny ‘The Rajah’ Huertero, hitting up a storm since June 10, when he went 2-for-5 with a home run against Nevada. A total of 21 games later, he’s hit safely in each game and averaged .365 in that period, with 31 hits, eight for extra bases, along with 12 runs and 14 RBIs.
