Cowboys Down Salts in Playoff Premiere, Will Face Admirals

(GAME DATE – Oct. 7, 2019) — The Arizona Cowboys, enjoying their first-ever playoff appearance, have defied the odds and outlasted the Metro League West Division pennant winner Seattle Salts, taking the best-of-5 Elimination Round series to the full five games.

Oxen Go the Distance to Take Down Dragons

(GAME DATE – Oct. 6, 2019) — The Ohio Oxen have made a triumphant return to the playoffs, after missing out in 2018, with a series win over the New York Dragons in the Lake League Elimination Round of the 2019 Bull League playoffs.

In their last playoff appearance, in 2017, they had an ignominious early exit in the first round after the Rimouski Fighting Moose downed them in 4 games, despite Ohio having had the best record in the LL that year at 60-40, and coming off a Bull Cup championship year in 2016.

Admirals Sweep Speeders in Elimination Round

(GAME DATE – Oct. 4, 2019) — The Metro League Elimination Round series between the 99-63 St. Petersburg Admirals, who took the East Division pennant, and the 2nd wild card Nevada Speeders, who finished 91-71 at 3rd place in the West Division, has seen the Florida team sweep away their opponent in 3 games, to advance to the MLCS.

The Admirals came out with cannons blazing in game 1, blanking the Speeders 6-0 as Jose Soto earned his 2nd career playoff win, in a complete game 6-hit shutout. Israel Medina, the St. Pete’s 3B, who joined the team in a May 30th trade that sent star pitcher Chris Zerkle to Calgary, hung 2 home runs on the Speeders pitching, one each to starter Al Mota and reliever Adam Fitzpatrick. Ravens Sweep Away Nomads

(GAME DATE – Oct. 3, 2019) — The Minneapolis Ravens have drawn first blood in the Elimination Round of the 2019 Bull League playoffs, eliminating the 4th seeded Toronto Nomads in a 3-game sweep, and outscoring the wild card entrants 13-4.

The 100-win Ravens, who were the winningest team in the league’s first full-length 162 game season, saw stellar performances on the mound from 4-time Sandy Koufax Award winner Ricky RodriguezPete Sharpe, and Aaron Miller, all of whom turned in 7-inning appearances and allowing 2 runs or less.

Arizona Makes Playoff Debut in Storybook Season, Will Play Seattle

(GAME DATE – Sep. 30, 2019) — The 2012 expansion Arizona Cowboys, who failed to finish better that 4th place or hold a win percentage better than .440 in their first 7 seasons, have achieved a wild card entry into the 2019 playoffs after a 92-70 (.568) 2nd place finish this year.

They will square off against the Seattle Salts, who are making their 10th playoff appearance since 1995, and have not won the Bull Cup during the modern era.

Clash of Titans as Speeders, Admirals Square Off

(GAME DATE – Sep. 30, 2019) — The Nevada Speeders have made the playoffs again, although not at a first place team atop the Metro League’s West division, but as a 2nd wild card entrant against the 99-63 St. Petersburg Admirals, who took the ML East pennant this year.

The Speeders had been embroiled in a frantic race in the ML West, but finished 1 game behind the 92-70 Arizona Cowboys, who are making their playoff debut after 8 seasons. The Speeders went 91-71.
