FRL’s Top Bat, Arm Announced

The Pitcher of the Month and the Batter of the Month in the Florida Rookie League (FRL) have been announced for February, and one of them comes as no surprise to anyone watching the up and comers from the Sunshine state.

Justin Cusimano (1B, New York) has once again captured the Batter of the Month honors, making two months in a row for the young future star. Through 22 games in February, Cusimano hit .382, scoring 17 runs, 9 home runs, 24 RBIs, and striking out just 12 times in 76 at bats. Continue reading “FRL’s Top Bat, Arm Announced”

Vazquez No-Hits Kingston Cannons B

Rookie league pitcher Edgar Vazquez (OHI B) fired a no-hitter Saturday

It was a terrific day for Edgar Vazquez of the Key Largo Ohio Oxen B at Tallahasee Field today. The right-hander stood out with a fantastic 2-0 no-hitter against the Tallahassee Kingston Cannons B.

“I knew I had a no-no going in about the sixth inning, when I noticed no one was talking to me anymore,” he said, referring to the time-honored superstition of avoiding the pitcher so as not to jinx the no-hitter. “Don’t let people fool you.
