Norfolk Sharks GM Recaps First Half

The Norfolk Sharks are hanging in the playoff race at 30-26. The club being led by All-Star Game MVP Earl MacPherson (no relation to Elle) and his 19 home runs to go with a .339 average. MacPherson, flanked by 10 time all star Danny Sanchez, who is hitting an AEL-leading .412 at the break. Second baseman Miguel Ortega is having a solid season as well batting .355. Bull League’s 2018 All-Stars Announced

There are several familiar faces, along with a few new ones, in this year’s lineups for the 2018 Bull League All-Star Game, which will take place on July 19 in Calgary, Alberta.

Norfolk’s Charles Ling will make his first All-Star Game appearance this season.

Zaphod Goes to Norfolk in Swap

The Norfolk Sharks and Louisville Sluggers have agreed to a trade that will see SS Zack Zaphod go to the Sharks, and LHP Ryan Hightower join Louisville.

The Sluggers are picking up a young back-of-the-rotation starter in the deal, a 24-year-old with a solid rookie season under his belt already, and the promise of more down the road. Continue reading “Zaphod Goes to Norfolk in Swap”

Expansion Norfolk’s Budget Flies High

The Norfolk Sharks budget for 2018 is at $120 million, putting themselves not only their fellow 2012 expansion teams, but four other Bull League teams: Detroit, Denver, Kingston and Toronto.

Though the budget was cut by $2 million from last year, it marks the first time that four older teams had their budgets outmatched by an expansion team.
