FA Class of 2021: Peaks and Valleys of Talent

(GAME DATE — Nov. 30, 2020) — The free agent class of 2021 — those FA’s who when signed will be available to play in the 2021 season — represents some interesting opportunities, but teams must be willing to spend big to get the best players.

One notable name is future Hall of Famer Danny Sanchez, a five-time batting champ and two-time MVP, who at age 33 is back on the free agent market following a seven year stint with Norfolk, which was recently folded. Continue reading “FA Class of 2021: Peaks and Valleys of Talent”

Sanchez Crowned ML Bat King

(GAME DATE — Sep. 30, 2020) — This year’s Metropolitan League batting champ was Danny Sanchez of the Norfolk Sharks.

Money Talks: How Much Will Land the 2020 Free Agent Whales?

(GAME DATE — Sep. 12, 2020) — The season rapidly approaches its final games, and for some GMs that may mean keeping at least one eye on the pending free agency list. (GAME DATE — May 27, 2020) — As we move towards a third of the way through the 2020 season, we begin to see an early picture forming of who the top players in the LL and ML are, and we can offer predictions about who may be holding that hardware at the end of the year.

Injuries have already taken some pieces off of the chess board, meaning a four-peat for Admirals ace Jose Soto as ML Sandy Koufax Award winner is unlikely, and Montreal’s Jose Ramirez will not likely accumulate the numbers required for a Carl Simms MVP Award this year. Ravens, Admirals Could Become First 100 Game Winners

(GAME DATE – Sep. 26, 2019) — With the expanded, 162-game schedule introduced for the first time this season, an interesting race has developed to see which team can breach the 100-game wins mark first.

Just 2 teams are in a position to do this, with only 4 games left on the schedule, the St. Petersburg Admirals and the Minneapolis RavensContinue reading “Ravens, Admirals Could Become First 100 Game Winners”

MVP Shortlist is Here!

There will be a tight race in both leagues for the Carl Simms MVP Awards at the conclusion of this season, we predict. We will take an early look at the contenders for the award here.

Last year’s winners, Orlando Garza (Montreal), and Earl MacPherson (Norfolk) don’t look like they will repeat, and in fact, it looks like in both leagues we will have a first-time winner. Continue reading “MVP Shortlist is Here!”
