Lake League Names Rookie of Month for August

Craig Gnarly is still a bit shy, but then, who could blame the newest Lake League Rookie of the Month honoree? He hasn’t been around the league long enough to fully know the ropes yet, despite the fact that he’s putting up veteran-like numbers.

In August the St-Lazare, Quebec-native tagged opposing pitching for a .438 average with 42 hits, 2 home runs and 14 RBIs, ensuring that his Ohio Oxen ended August on a hot streak during their playoff run.

For the year Gnarly has hit at a .342 clip with 32 RBIs, 5 home runs and 30 runs scored.

Gnarly was a supplemental first round draft pick, taken 31st overall in the 2013 draft, and put up impressive batting numbers in rookie league play that year, then made rapid progress through Single-A and AA the following year.  His first Bull League season was 2015, where he played in 37 games batting .276. This year he has consistently been hitting in the .330-range with 30+ RBIs.
