Canberra’s Courtney Earns AUSL Trophy

John Courtney is capable of a great game every time he takes the hill and last week the Canberra Ministers hurler proved that point with gusto to become the newest Australian League Player of the Week.

He picked up 2 wins and no losses and rang up 13 strikeouts in 13.1 innings to finish with a splendid 0.67 ERA.

So far this year Courtney has 2 wins and 2 losses and a 1.53 ERA.


Willmott Pounds AUSL Pitchers This Week

24-year-old Zachariah Willmott sent shock waves through Bull Oceanic League last week with an eye-popping performance that brought him the Australian League Player of the Week Award.

Fernandez on Fire, 5-for-5 Against Newcastle

Canberra Ministers catcher Sal Fernandez wielded a big stick today against the Newcastle Nuclears and his club walked off the field winners by the score of 9-4. Fernandez helped tame Newcastle with 5 hits in 5 at-bats. Sal Fernandez singled in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Edwin Teller in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 7th and hit an RBI single in the 8th.

So far this season Fernandez has 1 home run and a .429 batting average.
