Rambo Tops Prospects List

(GAME DATE – Apr. 15, 2020) — The Bull League’s Top 100 Prospects list was put out on Opening Day, and we’ll review the top names as we roll through April, starting with Numero Uno, John Rambo.

#1 JOHN “LONE WOLF” RAMBO, CHICAGO

The 22-year-old right fielder was drafted first overall by the Chicago Pit Bulls in the 2019 draft, coming out of two years with Arizona State University where he patrolled the outfield for the Sun Devils.

2020 Preview: Metro League West

ARIZONA LOOKING FOR REPEAT TITLE

Arizona could add to their 2019 success with a 94-win year.

(GAME DATE – April 1, 2020) — The Arizona Cowboys are predicted to repeat their 2019 miracle run with a first-place finish with a 94-win season to top the Metro League West division, a shocking revelation that has surprised many watching the stronger of the two Metro League divisions.

The Cowboys set a team record last season with 92 wins, placing 2nd behind the Seattle Salts (93-69). It was the first time in club history they made a playoff, entering as the first wild card, along with the Nevada Speeders (91-71) in a tight three-way race for the division title.

Rick-Rod, Garza, Castaneda All Hit DL Before 2020 Opener

(GAME DATE – Mar. 25, 2020) — Three big Bull League names on potential contender teams will be starting the year injured, as center fielder Orlando Garza (Montreal), 4-time Sandy Koufax winner Ricky Rodriguez (Minneapolis Ravens) and veteran starter Jose Castaneda (Ohio Oxen) were all hurt during spring training.

Castaneda fractured his shoulder blade pitching against Detroit back on March 14. Then, on the 20th, “Cha Cha” (Garza) strained on oblique muscle against Chicago. Then, just 2 days ago, Rick-Rod left a game against Milwaukee in the 2nd inning with elbow inflammation.

Race to Rookie of the Year Decided?

(GAME DATE – Sep. 23, 2019) — It is safe to say this year’s Rookie of the Year races for both leagues will focus once again on premier talent at the plate. And, not necessarily even young talent.

California’s powerful Hiroki Omiya is the front runner for the Metro League ROTY after clobbering 45 home runs in his debut season. The 33-year-old rookie was an international free agent signing from Japan last November, and inked a 7-year, $161 million deal with the Tidals on the strength of extremely positive scouting reports. Lahey Taps 5 Taters in 2 Days; Player of the Week

(GAME DATE – Sep 9, 2019) — Nevada Speeders first baseman Jim “Mister” Lahey had an incredible week at the plate, batting in 5 homers over the weekend in Miami, and going 12-for-28 through 7 games.

The former California Tidals player, who was a trailer park supervisor before turning to baseball, is now at 59 home runs on the season, which is the current season record, and is on pace to push that up to 66 for a 162-game season. Nomads Deal Sarmiento to California

(Game date: Oct. 23, 2018) — The Toronto Nomads have offloaded right fielder/DH Victor Sarmiento to the California Tidals, picking up 25-year-old third baseman Dusty Vega in return.

The cannon-armed Sarmiento was a key player in the Toronto re-tooling after a sizzling 2016 season, when he hit .311 and had an OPS of .898, raking 12 home runs in 59 games.
