Aberto Gone for 6 Weeks

Boston CF Bruce Aberto has his the DL for at least 6 weeks

Boston Brawlers stalwart Bruce Aberto, the 26-year-old center fielder and two-time Gold Crown Award winner, will be out of action for about six weeks resting a strained oblique, it was learned today.

Just four games into the season, Aberto felt a “twinge” in his side during a game in Chicago yesterday. He was pulled out of the game but since then learned of the extent of his injury. Continue reading “Aberto Gone for 6 Weeks”

Cody Martin earned Player of the Week honors for the 3rd time in his career

Cody Martin (Calgary Inferno) grabbed AEL Player of the Week honors for his no-frills, business-like style of play. The 29-year-old third baseman was 13-for-28, with 4 homers, 9 RBIs, and 9 runs scored in support of the Inferno, who are tied for second in the AEL East with a 4-4 record, 1½ games behind the Norfolk Sharks. Aberto takes LL Batting Honors

Venezuelan outfielder Bruce Aberto, of the Boston Brawlers, claimed the Lake League batting title for 2016 with an impressive .336 average during regular season play.

The 24 year old missed all of 2015 with a fractured ankle, but more than made up for his absence with a disciplined approach to his consistent swinging. He was player of the week at the beginning of August, and went 4 for 4 with 2 home runs and 3 RBI against the Metros on August 2nd.


Player of the Week Trophy to Aberto

Bruce Aberto demonstrated his potential to be a star in the game last week and today he took home the Lake League Player of the Week Award.

The Boston Brawlers center fielder wreaked havoc on opposing pitchers last week, pounding them for a .400 average (12-for-30) with 2 home runs and 7 RBIs on his way to claiming the honor.

So far this season Aberto is hitting .348 with 13 home runs, 33 RBIs and 39 runs scored. He has 71 hits in 204 at-bats and a .389 OBP.
