Battle Creek’s Weisensel Named Top Tourney Player

Everett Weisensel surprised everyone with his performance during the recent World Cup of Baseball tournament – everyone except his Battle Creek and Team Germany teammates.

The World Cup of Baseball ran through October, following the end of the Bull League playoffs

The veteran reliever had an incredible season this year as the closer for the Attack, and was partially responsible for their 3rd place tie finish with the Chicago Pit Bulls, their best in club history since joining as an expansion team in 2012. Motorheads Send Jansen to Battle Creek

Detroit Motorheads have agreed to a trade with state rivals Battle Creek Attack that will see the Motor City team send 28-year-old Norman Jansen and $250,000, in return for draftee Shunichi Nagai.

Detroit spent 2017 in the Lake League East, but will be realigned into the LL West for next season, making the Michigan team a division rival, as well as a state rival, for Battle Creek. Continue reading “Motorheads Send Jansen to Battle Creek”

Battle Creek, Seattle Confirm Trade

The Battle Creek Attack and Seattle Salts opened the off-season trading period with a three-player deal that will see veteran Attack catcher Mike Jennings go to Seattle for 2B Jon Fulcher and minor-league CF Matt Birdsong.

Jennings has hit .200 through six seasons in the major-level, but had sort of a “break out” year in 2017 after hitting 24 HRs, 54 RBIs, and scoring 44 times despite a .190 average and 132 strikeouts over 95 games.  Continue reading “Battle Creek, Seattle Confirm Trade”

Deucey Gets 9 K’s in 1st Shutout since 2010

Oxen starter A.C. Deucey notched his first shutout since 2010 on a 9-inning 5-hitter against Battle Creek. Ohio won 6-0.

Ohio Oxen hurler A.C. Deucey rung up nine Battle Creek batters while holding them to just five hits on his way to his first complete game shutout since 2010, his first with the Oxen, today.
