Reyes, Yamada Named Batters of the Month; June Awards Announced

The Bull League’s players of the month for June have been announced, and the top hitters were revealed as Gabel Reyes for the LL and Chitoji Yamada for the AEL.

CF Gabel Reyes was named Batter of the Month for June

Reyes, the Minneapolis Ravens center fielder, went .314 in June with an OPS of 1.043, contributing 11 home runs to make 13 for the season. Reyes has been a fixture in the cleanup role for about half his appearances, and has been particularly effective from there, batting .359 from the #4 slot. AEL July Awards Announced

Anchorage Aces rookie ace starter Jose Soto once again snagged a Rookie of the Month Award, along with the Pitcher of the Month honors. This time, Soto took both awards in the same month.

AEL Player Awards Announced for June

The American Eagle League has announced its three player awards for the month of June.  Hot-hitting Danny Sanchez tops the list as Batter of the Month, the Norfolk Sharks infielder had an incredible June and started a hitting streak that is at 18 games and counting.

San Diego’s Viramontes Top AEL Batter in August

Seasoned by several years of professional experience, 31-year-old Alex Viramontes put together a solid offensive month for San Diego and was crowned August’s top batter in the American Eagle League.

He batted .419 with 8 home runs, 27 RBIs and 32 runs scored, including a 5 hit effort on August 30.

Currently Viramontes is hitting .365 and has collected 16 home runs, 58 RBIs and scored 58 times, while playing in 78 games.

The Seagulls are looking to clinch a playoff spot today at home against the Dallas Lawmen. They are currently in the division lead for the AEL West, with a magic number of 1.
