Admirals Advance, Take Down Cowboys

(GAME DATE – Oct. 14, 2019) — The St. Petersburg Admirals dispatched the Arizona Cowboys, winning the 2019 MLCS handily 4 games to 1.

St. Pete’s ace Jose Soto was positively stellar through the series, blanking Arizona in Game 1 on 3 hits as efficient Admirals offense generated the only 2 runs they needed to win the opener.

Admirals Clinch Playoff Berth, Take ML East Pennant

(GAME DATE – Sept. 16, 2019) — The St. Petersburg Admirals, led by the veteran GM/manager, Brandon Popper, have clinched the Metro League East pennant, and are the first team to secure a playoff spot in the 2019 season.

The Admirals will now see their 4th consecutive playoff, and their 6th since 1995, in what many observers are calling a new era of dominance for the club, once based in San Diego, and later Anchorage.

Admirals Take Command in Power Rankings for Week 8

The St. Petersburg Admirals have taken command of the Weekly Team Power Rankings, following a 5-1 stretch since July 2, with their only loss coming on July 4 against the Norfolk Sharks. The Admirals are now 8-2 in their last 10 games.

AEL Postseason Set to Go

The American Eagle League postseason is set to kick off tomorrow, just one day after the Lake League’s playoffs get underway.

The Seattle Salts (63-37), who swept into 1st in the AEL West with a 21-7 run through August, take the top seed and will play the wild card Jacksonville Ravens (57-43), who finished in 2nd in the AEL East.  Continue reading “AEL Postseason Set to Go”

Erazo Tops List of Highest Paid in BBL

With the signing of left fielder Francisco Erazo by the Kingston Cannons yesterday to a 2-year, $76.5 million contract, the Cannons can now boast to having the highest paid player in the Bull League.

The 37-year-old veteran Erazo will make $3 million more next year than Toronto ace starter Alex Medina.

Viramontes Captures 2nd Consecutive League Batting Title

San Diego right fielder Alex “Javelin” Viramontes captured his second consecutive AEL batting title, finishing the season with an impressive .365 average.

The popular 31 year old veteran hit .389 last year to lead the AEL, and also led the league in slugging pct. and on-base plus slugging (OPS).

This year, in addition to his league-leading average, he led the AEL in on-base percentage, at .456, along with hits, at 118.

With his impressive batting stats, he is heavily favored to take the MVP honors for the AEL this year.
