Ohio Takes Elimination Round in Deciding Game

The stakes were high at Oxen Ballpark tonight and the Ohio Oxen stepped up when it counted.

Edging the New York Minutemen 3-2 to wrap up the Elimination Round, Ohio won the clinching game by a blow-out 6-0 score. The series had been littered with shutouts, with three of the five games ending with one team scoreless.

“You’ve got to fight that doubt and that little part of you that says you can’t do it or you’re going to fail,” said Ohio right-hander A.C. Deucey. “The possibility of failure is always in your mind, but you can’t let it bring you down.”

The failure of the Minutemen to advance was certainly weighing heavily on the team’s manager.

“It’s a crushing loss and a tough way to lose a series,” Cody Olson said. “In the end there can only be one Bull Cup champion and we’re just devastated it’s not going to be us.”

Deucey earned Series MVP honors for his 2 shutouts and 20 K's against New York.

Deucey’s strong pitching earned him the nod as series MVP. He threw two shutouts, holding a 0.00 ERA over 17.1 innings pitched. He added 20 strikeouts.

The Ohio Oxen will play against the Boston Brawlers in the next round. Boston won their series against the Montreal Metros 3 games to 2. The Championship Series schedule will be announced after the Elimination Round finishes.

Deucey Re-signs with Oxen after Throwing Masterpiece

Ohio ace starter A.C. Deucey has re-signed with the Oxen for a rumored $16.8 million over two years, it was announced today, just one day after he threw a complete game shut-out against the New York Minutemen during Elimination Round action.

No doubt the masterful performance yesterday will solidify his role in the Oxen rotation, and reassure the team management of his worth.

His season performance was spotty, with a 6-7 record and a 4.43 ERA, but supporters of the young star believe this was mainly as a result of inconsistent fielding and lack of run production during the year, and that the pitcher has great fundamentals, such as a low WHIP of just 1.21.

Deucey joined the team in a free agent signing in 2014 after one year with Arizona, and several mediocre seasons with San Diego.
