(GAME DATE — Sep. 18, 2020) — The A-level Calf League playoffs wrapped up at the beginning of the month and the Winnipeg Gophers (Seattle Salts) were victorious, taking out the Boston-affiliated Lexington Moonshiners in a 2-0 series sweep.
Despite Winnipeg winning the series, it was Lexington’s right fielder, Harvey Marleau, who was named series MVP. Marleau went 3-for-8 with a Game 2 home run that would be Lexington’s only run in that game. He led the team in RBIs for the series.
Lexington’s Chris Santiago was named as one of the MVPs for the season, though he was quickly promoted to the Heifer League’s Madison Cyclones to finish the year at AA-level.
It was a second A-level league championship for the Gophers, who last won it all in 2009.
