Today was Tony Rivera’s turn in the rotation for the Ocala Sharks and he made the most of it, shutting out the Ft. Myers Deputies on 4 hits.
The 20-year-old right-hander led the Sharks to an easy 7-0 victory, allowing 1 walk and tallying 7 strikeouts.
“I hope we miss him next time,” Ft. Myers manager Johnny McNeely said. “Rivera certainly pitched a strong game against us today. He was in a groove, throwing everything for strikes. Throwing hard. Changing speeds.”
In 7 starts this year Rivera has fashioned a 2-4 record and a 3.08 ERA.
