Longhorns Advance to Cow League Cup Finals

The Brampton Longhorns have swept the Baltimore Bruins and moved on to the Cow League Cup final round, after defeating the Bruins 4-1 today.

Baltimore, who were the 2016 Cow League champions, were denied their attempt at a sixth appearance in the Cow League Cup, which would have set a record.

Brampton now prepares to face the winner of the Anaheim Pharaohs-Oakland Dukes series, which is currently tied at 1-1.

Longhorns 1B-man Jimmy Sayle was huge for the Toronto Nomads affiliate, and was named series MVP for his 6-for-12, 2 RBI hitting, that saw him double and triple, along with scoring a pair of runs. THe wins went to pitchers Matt Miller, Stuart Bishop and Jim Torelli, who combined for 16 K’s and allowed just 10 hits over 19.1 innings. Closer Danny Gutierrez was an absolute assassin in that role, capping all three games of the series and earning three straight saves. He struck out 11 batters in 6 IP and was only hit off of three times.
