Fort Myers Loses Tetsuya Onodera for Season

Fort Myers Dallas Lawmen B (affiliated to the Dallas Deputies) have lost starting pitcher Tetsuya Onodera for at least 11-12 months. He was hurt in a game tonight against the Anchorage Aces B while throwing a pitch and sustained a stretched elbow ligament. His doctors said Onodera will probably be out the rest of the year.

The loss of Onodera is quite a blow to the Dallas organization, and he has gone 9-2 this season with an ERA of 1.97 and 75 strikeouts in 86.2 innings pitched. Other clubs are hitting .204 against him.

While it’s not clear whether, or at what level, Onodera would have been promoted to following the Florida Rookie League season, which ends soon, a talented pitcher with his skills could easily have found themselves slotted into a rotation at the AA-level to start the spring.
