OXEN TAKE CONTROL

The Ohio Oxen have assumed the lead spot in the Weekly Team Power Rankings for the first time during the regular season, after spending the last six weeks in the #2 or #3 spots. The 9th week of the baseball season was marked by the inter-league home-and-home series, and the Oxen faced off against the Nevada Speeders, routing them on the Monday game in Reno, 10-0, then following up with a 7-6 win. After coming home to Toledo, the Oxen dropped the first game in a 3-0 loss, but fought back to take the series in a 4-3 win just before breaking for the All-Star game. In all, the Oxen outscored Nevada 20-12 over the four-game set, and have now taken command of the Lake League in almost every team hitting category. After the break they face an important test again the division rival Chicago Pit Bulls, against whom they are 3-3 on the season.
