(GAME DATE – May 20, 2020) — Hot off their third win in a row, the first time the club has extended a win streak this long all season, the Toronto Nomads have made a deal sending 30-year-old 3B Alex Romero to the Dallas Deputies for 24-year-old minor league SS Elijah Smith and 19-year-old minor league LHP John Balcome. Both sides are said to be pleased with the way the trade worked out.
Romero is batting .182 this season in 43 games with no home runs, 12 RBIs and 16 runs scored. He has 26 hits in 143 at-bats.
Looking at his stats this year, Smith has compiled a .364 batting average, while hitting 1 home run and driving in 2 runs. He has played in 9 games and scored 5 runs. Smith is expected to join the Nomads 25-man roster, while Balcome will lend his lefty arm to the club’s Florida Rookie League team.
In another trade announced by Toronto, the Nomads and Arizona Cowboys have agreed to another deal today. The Nomads will send 31-year-old 2B Moses de Bruine to the Cowboys for 25-year-old minor league 3B Gustaf Seegers. The deal is expected to be finalized shortly and the clubs will be introducing their new players to the press when the paperwork is complete.
Currently de Bruine has 3 home runs and a .189 batting average.
