(GAME DATE — May 12, 2020) — BNN has confirmed that the Toronto Nomads and Joseph Walker have come to terms on a $51,350,000 package that will keep the left fielder in town for another 7 years.
Team officials are set to officially announce the deal at a mid-morning press conference tomorrow.
Walker’s current batting average stands at .304 and he has chalked up 2 home runs and 11 RBIs. But he was an important piece in the club’s first playoff run in nearly a decade in 2019, landing 3rd on the team in batting average and OBP.
Last year, the speedy left fielder set a new franchise record for steals, swiping 57 bases and beating “Speed” Lewis’ 2001 single-season record of 31 steals. Walker has moved up to third on the all-time Toronto Nomads stolen bases leader board with 94 total.
This year, the 25-year-old’s refined eye has him walking more than striking out, with 15 free passes taken over just 9 whiffs.
