Soto, Malone Toss Shutouts

Anchorage Aces rookie star Jose Soto threw a gem of a game today, a near-perfect one-hitter against the Battle Creek Attack, winning 9-0 in inter-league action tonight. Soto chalked up 14 strikeouts on the effort, and is quickly solidifying a reputation as one of the most feared pitchers in the AEL.

Nomads starter Malone improved to 8-2 after a shutout tonight

Meanwhile, in the Lake League, Toronto’s Knuckles Malone was also impressive, shutting out the Seattle Salts at Portlands Stadium. Malone allowed 8 hits, and had an equal number of strikeouts.

Soto is now 9-0 on the season, and is the only pitcher with that many wins to remain undefeated this season. He is holding down an ERA of 1.36, keeping opposing batters to just 14 earned runs, 5 home runs, over 92.1 innings.

Nomads ace Malone improves to 8-2 on the season, with an ERA of 1.89. In 81 innings he has struck out 84 batters, allowing 17 earned runs, none on home runs.
