(GAME DATE — Sep. 30, 2020) — This year’s Metropolitan League batting champ was Danny Sanchez of the Norfolk Sharks.
His .349 batting average was the best in the league. The Sharks star won the honor with 154 hits in 441 at-bats. He also tallied 4 home runs, 56 RBIs and scored 115 runs.
Sanchez won the batting title in 2019, with a .390 average. His 183 walks last year, and 192 this season, also gave him the best OBP for the past two seasons.
The “Golden Boy” of the Bull League, a 12-time all-star and 2-time MVP, has had a phenomenal career in his 15 seasons of baseball. But with the contraction of Norfolk after the playoffs, will almost certainly play for another franchise next season as retirement seems unlikely at age 33.
