Salazar Twirls Freedom to Shutout Win

(GAME DATE — June 23, 2020) — Washington Freedom pitcher Willie Salazar did his job to perfection today, blanking the Calgary Inferno at Liberty Field. He scattered 5 hits while striking out 6 in the complete game 1-0 shutout win.

“All I did was not allow any runs,” the humble Puerto Rican joked after the game. “I mean, technically, that’s what they pay me to do, right?”

This season Salazar has a 11-4 record with a 3.40 ERA. This was Salazar’s second shutout of the season. He has been Washington’s winningest pitcher, and certainly also one of the team’s most consistent.
