(GAME DATE – Sep. 22, 2019) — In a development that surprises absolutely no one, the Minneapolis Ravens have clinched 1st place in the Lake League West Division, following their 6-2 win over the Chicago Pit Bulls.
The Ravens were already destined for the playoffs, but are now going to repeat their pennant performance from last season, and likely earn the top seed in the Lake League playoffs.
The Ravens are on a hot streak, having won their last 6 games. Their offense is firing on all cylinders, and they have managed to top the league in runs scored, breaking through the 900-runs mark handily, and trail only the division rival Ohio Oxen in home runs, with 215.
Their pitching has held it together, with Ricky Rodriguez and Pete Sharpe posting sub 3.00 and sub 4.00 ERA’s respectively. The loss of closer Alejandro Dominguez to a torn UCL at the end of July has been weathered easily with replacement Jason Myers, who has been productive in the closer role piling up 10 saves on the season.
Former GM Brendan Burke would be proud of his club, as he had a huge role in putting together the roster through the year. Burke had to step aside part way through the season due to personal reasons.
