AEL PLAYER OF THE WEEK (WEEK #2)
Jim Lahey tore up the AEL last week, hitting safely 11 times out of 24 at bats, including 4 homers, 9 RBIs and 5 runs scored. The California Tidals first baseman is hitting .358 on the season, with 7 HR’s and 16 RBIs. Although he is used to success, this is Jim’s first time winning the Player of the Week award.
In seven seasons in the Bull League, all with the Tidals, Lahey is hitting .280, with 158 runs, 58 homers, and 198 RBIs.
LL PLAYER OF THE WEEK (WEEK #2)
Ohio Oxen center-fielder Corny Maise took the Lake League’s Player of the Week honors for his stellar 10-for-26 performance, gathering 4 homers, 6 RBIs and 7 runs scores along the way.
Maise started the week struggling with a dismal average of just .032, but turned things around quickly with a 6-game hitting streak that included all four of his home runs to date. He improved his average to .193 by the end of the week. His best effort was his May 25 game against Boston, when he went 3-for-5 with 2 runs, a solo homer, and 3 RBIs on the day.
