Player Awards, Week #1

AEL Player of the Week (Week #1)

Cody Martin earned Player of the Week honors for the 3rd time in his career

Cody Martin (Calgary Inferno) grabbed AEL Player of the Week honors for his no-frills, business-like style of play. The 29-year-old third baseman was 13-for-28, with 4 homers, 9 RBIs, and 9 runs scored in support of the Inferno, who are tied for second in the AEL East with a 4-4 record, 1½ games behind the Norfolk Sharks.

This is the third Player of the Week award in Martin’s career. He currently leads the AEL in batting with a .467 average, and he is also tied for the AEL lead in homers (4) and RBIs (9).

Bruce Aberto won POTW for his 3rd time in his career

Bruce Aberto demonstrated his potential to be a star in the game last week and today he took home the Lake League Player of the Week Award. It was also Aberto’s third career Player of the Week award.

The Boston center fielder wreaked havoc on opposing pitchers last week, pounding them for a .406 average (13-for-32) with 3 home runs and 5 RBIs on his way to claiming the honor.
