The Ohio Oxen triumphed 9-4 over the Boston Brawlers at Brawlers Stadium in the Championship Series to capture it 3-1.
The victory advanced the Oxen to the Bull Cup.
For his superb play in the series, Oxen second baseman Rod Cubit garnered the series MVP trophy, hitting .462, scoring 4 runs and batting in 2.
“Only thing better than getting MVP for winning in the playoffs would be winning MVP for winning in the Bull Cup,” Cubit said later. “I’ll get to work on that.”
Ohio had lost Game 1 of the LLCS in a tight 2-1 game, where both of Boston’s runs came on solo homers. The Oxen then fought back to win three straight.
The Oxen don’t know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Calgary Inferno – Jacksonville Ravens series. That series is tied at 2 games apiece. The Bull Cup schedule will be announced after the Championship Series finishes.
