It’s a week that 26-year-old Chris Lemmons sent shock waves through Bull Oceanic League, with an eye-popping performance that brought him the New Zealand League Player of the Week Award.
A newcomer to the league, Lemmons made the establishment sit up and take notice, punishing opposing pitchers with a .467 average, 14 hits in 30 at-bats, 1 home run and 6 runs batted in.
Where the Invercargill Hobbits catcher goes from here, only the baseball gods know for sure, but Lemmons certainly made his mark last week.
This year Lemmons has collected a .453 batting average to date with 24 hits in 53 at-bats, 11 RBIs, 2 home runs and scored 5 times. He has played in 13 games.
