The Newcastle Nuclears defeated the Melbourne Dockers, 3-1 in Game 2 of the BOL League Championships today. Earning player of the game honors was starter Sal Arango, who threw 8 innings of 2-hit ball. The win moves Newcastle into a 1-1 tie with Melbourne in the series.
Arango, a native of Pimentel, Dominican Republic, was dealing all game. He kept Melbourne hitters off-balance, while giving the Nuclears 8 quality innings. Arango threw 101 pitches, allowing 2 hits and striking out 10.
“It was a tough night at the plate,” said Melbourne manager Jack Perkins.
The next game is set to be played on Friday, December 23rd, 2016 at Ballpark of Chula Vista. Slated to start are Edwin Teller for Newcastle and Miguel Melendez for Melbourne.
