ML Top Pitcher for July Picked

(GAME DATE — August 1, 2020) — When the Admirals skipper wrote Young-lau Weng on the lineup card, it was a bad omen for the opposition. Outing after outing in July he took command and usually got the win.

He dominated with a 5-0 mark and 3.92 ERA in 6 starts. The gifted Admirals star pitched 43.2 innings, fanned 31 and held opposing teams to a .239 average.

For his excellent mound work Weng was named the ML Pitcher of the Month by the baseball writers. It is his first player award, though he did help the Admirals win a Bull Cup last year, and was named to the ML All-Star team last month. He also placed 2nd in voting for the ML Rookie of the Year award in 2019.

This season Weng has registered 14 wins and 4 losses in 24 starts with a 4.32 ERA.
